Best Place for Remote Control Helicopters

July 22nd, 2010

Houston: The Best Place for Remote Control Helicopters If you are a resident of Texas, particularly Houston, and if you are interested in remote control helicopters, then this is the article for you. As you know, there are many types of different remote control helicopter enthusiasts in Houston, and if you’re one of them, then you’re in good company. These people are some of the most hospitable people in the nation—maybe even in the entire world—and they really know their stuff when it comes to helicopter flying, maintenance, and general enjoyment. Even if you know nothing about helicopter flying, if you are at all interested in learning more, then these people will be incredibly helpful in your search to learn as much as possible about remote control helicopters. You can be assured that you’re in good hands. I am from the Houston area, and if it weren’t for my fantastic exposure to remote control helicopters as a child, I don’t know if I would have been able to truly cultivate my own innate interest in remote control helicopters. It would have been very different, because my parents really didn’t know very much about helicopters, and although they supported me in my remote control helicopter flying ventures, it was the other residents of Houston—helicopter shopowners, maintenance crews, and the like—that were really instrumental in showing me the true joy that is remote control helicopter flying. I was so thrilled when I first decided to start a collection, and it was in Houston that this decision was born. I was walking along one summer afternoon when I was about fifteen, browsing the shops and generally window shopping with no intent to purchase. At that time, I had two helicopters, both of which I loved, but I didn’t think that I would need more right away; plus, I didn’t know where I would put any more of them, and they can be a lot of work to maintain, lots of dusting and oiling, etc. Anyway, I walked past this amazing shop that was just full of helicopters of all shapes and sizes, from the very smallest to helicopters so large that they could barely be called model helicopters, except for that fact that they were still remote controlled. It was after seeing this remarkable collection, that I realized that I wanted to start a collection of my own. And that’s how it all started. I ultimately walked into the helicopter shop and explained to the shop owner how impressed I was by his collection and how much I desperately wanted to start my own. And he was kind enough to offer me one of his, on the house, as a gift of friendship from one helicopter collector to another. I never forgot his generosity, and when I was older and had more helicopters of my own, I walked back to his shop, which was still in the very same place, and donated one of my best helicopters to him. He remembered me, and was so proud that I had kept with my collection. It is experiences like that that keep a person coming back to Houston, where the remote control helicopter collectors are better than anywhere else!

Great Places to Play in New York

July 22nd, 2010

New York actually has a great deal to offer young and old kids alike who enjoy very little better than playing a great game, video or otherwise. For those of you who enjoy this particular pastime, there are many unique opportunities in New York City in which you can participate in the games you enjoy so much while spending time with friends and family.

Astroland Amusement Park at Coney Island has much to offer the adventurous gamer. From thrills and chills on the midway to the Cyclone Roller Coaster and many wonderful rides in between, this park also offers arcade game rooms along the way where you can play video games of all kinds. This is great for those rainy days when you can’t ride the rides or simply when it’s just too hot to stand in line. It’s also a great bonding experience for father and sun to play the games together and see who has the edge at any given moment.

Dave and Busters is a unique dining experience while offering a wide selection of gaming options. This is not your average arcade food by any means. In fact, this isn’t your kids arcade or their arcade games. Dave and Busters offers good food and great fun under one roof and if you have the chance I recommend you take the big kid in you to try it out.

The ESPN Zone is a great place to spend the day with the family. They offer food, fun, and 200 televisions. Who could ask for more? The food is American grill type food and the entertainment is for the most part sports themed and interactive. If you’re looking for a great way to bond with the kids this is definitely better than Chuck E. Cheese, especially for the slightly older kids.

The Nintendo World Store is another wonderful attraction that is located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza. This neat store will have your kids thinking you’re the coolest parent on the planet just for bringing them. That of course will not stop them from asking for everything they see but it will buy you a few minutes of coolness before they grow tired of hearing the word no. You may want to relent at some point however as there is some merchandise offered that is exclusive to this store and cannot be found elsewhere. Even if you must order it and have it shipped home for a later surprise it is better not to always wait until too late to find out you can’t get something (at least not without a costly trip to New York). Perhaps one of the coolest things about this particular store is that your kids can try out games that haven’t been released yet so they can go back to school with the inside scoop on the latest Nintendo games and you are once again world’s coolest mom.

Even for the technologically challenged parents among us it is often a good idea just to enjoy playing games with your kids. Even if they win or maybe, especially if they win, let’s hope they are better winners than we were when we were kids. I think we all need to take the time to play with our little ones every chance we get. They grow up so fast and one day they will stop asking us to play with them.

Why Place Your Dog In Daycare

July 21st, 2010

Why Place Your Dog In Daycare? Daycare for dogs is a concept that is becoming more and more popular among the working population. Prior to the development of pet care, animals were left home all day, often penne up in cages, locked inside houses, or fenced in yards, left on their own to entertain themselves or cause trouble as they see fit. Many an owner has come home to a destroyed home, chewed up shoes or an escaped dog running free in the neighborhood. Dog daycare eliminates that problem by providing a safe place for animals to stay and play while their owners are away. While not enrolling your dog in daycare is not going to turn them into the undertrained laughingstock of the neighborhood, there are many advantages to doing so. In a doggie daycare dogs are provided with grooming services daily, including, but not limited to, bathing, brushing, nail trimming, coat clipping, and cleaning of eyes, ears and teeth. More in depth procedures, such as cleaning of anal glands, may be available at some centers. In a society where a disobedient dog may result in them having to be put to sleep, it is very important that all dogs be well trained. Dogs spend time each day with a professional trainer, who works consistently with them on basic obedience commands such as sitting and coming when called. A “doggie boot camp” is available in many locations for pets who have previously had difficulties in training. Many of these animals have been written off as untrainable. A highly educated staff works with the animals daily, using repetition to teach the dogs basic skill. A high level of success has been achieved through these programs, allowing the dogs to have more time and focus given to their training than is possible with an owner who works all day. Play time and exercise time are both important components of a canine day care facility. Dogs are walked several times a day, and like children are often given a playground to play on, allowing them to run, jump and climb. Separate faculties are available for both large and small size dogs, with the separation being made at or around twenty five pounds. Puppies have their own separate area, where they are played with, housebroken, and loved. As with a child care facility, guidelines are established for feeding and napping, with food bowls and sleeping space provided by the day care. Any nutritional or physical needs the dogs have are observed, with any problems discussed with both the owner and a veterinarian. In this way, all parties are involved in a dog’s care, and the chances of a dog being cared for improperly are greatly reduced. Along with playground time, all dogs are given plenty of one-on-one playtime with staff. This time is essential for the dogs happiness, and illustrates the most important benefit of placing a dog in daycare. Dogs, like children, require love and attention throughout the day to be happy and well adjusted. Dogs that receive this love and attention are less likely to develop common misbehavior problems, and these happy dogs will make happy owners.

Great Places to Shop for Pottery

July 20th, 2010

There are many great places to shop for nice custom made pottery pieces in large and small cities and towns across the country. While many of these places are a little off the beaten path and often will not be found at the local ‘mega mall’ or ’super center,’ there are plenty of shopping options available to most who are interested in buying unique and interesting pieces of pottery to add to their collections or even in order to begin a collection.

The first to consider, and often overlooked, would be local garage sales. There is no small degree of truth to the saying that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. You will be amazed at some of the amazing pieces you will find at garage sales for next to nothing. Many of the people selling these items are people, who do not appreciate pottery, were given these pieces as gifts, or who inherited them and have no real idea of the worth of these pieces or do and just do not care. Regardless, you can find many great pottery pieces at garage sales for a fraction of what you will pay elsewhere. The only problem is that you must often sacrifice a little bit of sleep for the better bargains or finer pieces.

Flea markets are another excellent source of pottery pieces for the avid or even casual collectors. You never know what you will find at antique shops or flea markets and there have been many beautiful pieces gotten for a steal at places such as these. You will pay a little more than garage sale prices in these venues so be prepared to make an investment if you are truly interested in developing a pottery collection or adding to an existing collection.

Ebay and similar online auction websites are other excellent sources for finding the treasures you seek in pottery. There are often plenty of pieces from which to choose and many of them fetch a rather low price. Be careful however that you do not find yourself sucked into a bidding war and pay well over the actual value of the piece unless it’s something you really want from a personal standpoint rather than that of a collector. In a best case scenario you would only select pieces that add value to your collection and get them well below cost. Of course, life doesn’t always work out in best case scenarios.

Local craft shops and art galleries are another great place to find new and talented artists and vendors in your area for the pottery pieces you seek. If you develop a good working relationship with some of the local talent or a local vendor he or she will inform you of when new work is being presented, going on sale, and being marked down. Local vendors realize that the bread and butter of their businesses and they are also the ones most likely to buy something else when coming in to check out items on sale. Regardless it’s always a great idea to support your local talent and local businesses whenever possible and assuming you actually appreciate the pottery pieces being sold.

Traveling or annual craft fairs are also excellent for finding the pieces you want to add to your collection. Many artisans work year round in order to create a nice display of pottery for the local craft fairs and many of these pieces are quite stunning in beauty and design. Visit your local festivals and craft fairs and pay close attention to the different artists that have their works displayed. Pick up business cards, visit websites, and view gallery showings.

You never know when you’ll find that perfect, must have, piece for your pottery collection. Hopefully, the places mentioned above will provide you with a few excellent places to begin your search. The Internet also provides many excellent opportunities to find beautiful pottery pieces if you know exactly what you are looking for.

The Place of Pottery in a Tuscan Kitchen

July 19th, 2010

Tuscan inspired kitchens are all the rage in the United States these days. You see them on all sorts of television commercials, on magazine covers, and in many dreams across the country. There are some simple ways you can create a Tuscan feel in your kitchen without spending tens of thousands of dollars on renovating and ripping out walls, cabinets, floors, and such. One way is by adding a fair amount of pottery to your kitchen walls, counters, and backsplashes for a true Tuscan feel.

Tuscan kitchens are known for character. Distressed wood floors and tabletops that look old and distinguished are the perfect fit for the average Tuscan inspired kitchen as are pottery pieces that have an aged or weathered appearance and are rendered in tones befitting the sun-baked, earthy look and feel of the Tuscan region. Pottery bowls and pitchers in these kitchens should be used for more than mere decoration though they are appropriate for decorative purposes as well. You want most of the decorations to appear not only decorative but also useful, which is one reason pottery fits so well with the theme.

In addition to pottery, wooden bowls make an excellent addition to kitchens of this design as does wrought iron, grape vines, grape clusters, and wine bottles. But in the average Tuscan kitchen pottery has a tendency to upstage everything else. From pottery canisters to pottery crocks for holding utensils to pottery cake stands and dozens of potential pottery pieces in between there are plenty of opportunities to incorporate pottery into your Tuscan kitchen theme without breaking a sweat and it will seem perfectly appropriate too. Who could really ask for more than that? Well not many pottery lovers I know that’s for sure.

While you are setting the stage in your Tuscan kitchen for plenty of pottery on your countertops do not overlook the opportunities on your walls. Pottery wall sconces are great for holding candles or even skilled contractors to apply modern lighting. Tiles and plates make excellent wall decorations that are entirely suitable for a Tuscan themed kitchen and are a great deal of fun to select or have made. They add decorative touches for the most part but can also be practical when necessary (provided of course that they were created in a food safe manner) as platters or even chargers if they are slightly oversized.

In addition to all the things mentioned above you can also add pottery napkin rings and stoneware dishes to the list of items appropriate for a Tuscan inspired kitchen. There is literally no end to the possibilities when it comes to bringing pottery into your Tuscan kitchen. I hope you have more fun shopping for these sorts of items and spend considerably less money than if you were to go through and demolish your existing kitchen in order to build a new Tuscan kitchen when you could have done a great deal to bring the theme into your existing kitchen without spending nearly the same amount of money. If you add a little paint, perhaps new cabinet doors, laminate flooring, and a new countertop to the pottery purchases you make, you could have twice the impact for half the price and what feels like a brand new Tuscan kitchen too!

Google Adsense: Where to Place Ads on Your Web Pages and a Profile of Blogger

Deciding Where to Place Your Google Ads on Your Web Pages so That They Will Be Most Profitable

This is one of the best parts of the whole Google Adsense experience. No one else gets to make this decision except you.  It’s your page.  You get to decide how many ( up to 3 ads per page), what colors and shapes you will use and on what part of the page the ad will be placed.  Should you place your ads at the top or bottom?  In the middle of the text?  To the left or right?

The most important decision should be based on the needs of the visitors to your site?  What are they looking for? Are they there to read or merely to browse.  If they are there to read an entire article, say, you might try placing your ads at the bottom of the page so they will have something to do next.  Some publishers swear by placing the ads at the top left of the page because they think customers look there first.

The fun thing is experimenting with all the possibilities.  Try different ad locations and different colors for a week and note the differences in your reports.  When you hit on something successful, you’ll see the difference.

Blogger Party promises “party points” any time you write something or comment on someone else’s blog.  They don’t do anything as yet, but later you will be able to trade them in for prizes according to Blogger Party’s admin.

Places and People Famous for Influencing Theater Arts

July 18th, 2010

The Ancient Greek civilization was responsible for the origin of Theater and evolving arts in that field. One of the most prominent play writers of that time was Aristophanes who was considered to be the best comic dramatist of his times. All his plays revolved around issues like morality, politics, and had an abundance of literature. His storyline dealt with the everyday life of the people of Athens. After the Peloponnesian War Aristophanes was so deeply effected by the bloodshed of his fellow beings, that he wrote four plays revolving around it. One of the plays “Lysistrata” was the most prominent work of all, which was aimed to bring peace and harmony in the society but with a light note.

After the World War II the whole world was shattered and inhabitants all over the world baldy needed something that would relieve their mind of all the massive destruction and bloodshed. People were so desperate to drift from the harsh reality that some sect of people nicknamed as “Absurdists” gave birth to a different genre of theater known as the Theater of the Absurd. This term was brought into existence by Martin Esslin to name the new kind of plays sprouting in Europe and America. The goal of such plays was to deviate peoples’ mind, although the storyline had some preposterous elements embedded in it. Some of the common “Absurdists” were Eugène Lonesco, Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Harold Pinter. Later on this kind of thinking lead to the development of Philosophy of existentialism according to which more emphasis is paid to individual existence and total freedom. But this philosophy has much wider spectrum and cannot be described in few words.

Meta theaters are that classification of theaters, which blurred the gap between the actors and the audience. The actors are obviously the dynamic part of the play but the onlookers, too, are expected to be participating in the proceedings of the play. Schemes are developed on the spur of the moment so its no longer vivid to the audience what is actual part of the storyline and what patches have been added. This practice was developed during the Elizabethan Era, which is more commonly known as the Renaissance Period and it is still popular in the modern times.

Richard Wagner was the brainchild behind the Theaters known as Gasamtkuntswerk or more commonly referred to as Total Art Work. These brands of theaters are known to have all the flavoring elements that one can think of within its radius. Drama, music, dances and Greek Theater extract work in harmony to bring out the essence of the story being enacted. Steven Berkoff took this concept a step further by introducing actors who could be characters and presented depending on the theme at different times. Props were also used to bring in more realism. With all these elements sometimes the plays reached a level of superficiality and exaggeration.

Jerzy Grotowski gave rise to a different type of Theater, which was targeted, for people of the lower sectors of the society. In Poland, while working with his troupe, Jerzy recognized the needs of the poor people there and understood their inability to shell out money for big theaters. These concepts got popular especially during the 1960s’ and 70s’. In such theaters there wasn’t a separate stage of performing rather the artists and the audience occupied the same space. Since rich people didn’t finance these theaters there was a lack of props, detailed costumes, adequate lightning proper sets, and other technical features. The performers were outstanding and vivid so as to overcome the lack of good costumes. The actors were made to go through rigorous training involving months of practicing and rehearsing. Physical workout was also a part of it. Many acting troupes and aspiring actors go by this method to gain popularity the easier way. Grand Guignol is coined from the Theatre du Grand Guignol of Paris, France, is a kind of theater class, which encompasses a lot of gruesome violence. This term is used till date to refer to bloodshed melodramas.
